Regular Cleaning
For daily wear watches, clean them regularly to prevent dirt and sweat buildup. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the case and strap. For metal bracelets and water-resistant models, a gentle wash with mild soap and water is effective. Avoid immersing leather straps in water to prevent damage.
Protect from Extremes
Keep your watch away from extreme temperatures and magnetic fields. High temperatures can shorten battery life and damage internal components, while magnetic fields can interfere with the watch’s accuracy. Store your watch in a cool, dry place when not in use.

Regular Cleaning
Most of the value in a vintage watch is based on condition, for this reason it is important to take care of your watch and from time to time give it a gentle clean (no polishing or water exposure please !). You can spot clean with a damp rag if you have a bit of dirt or food on a part of the watch but do not submerge the watch. Better safe than sorry !
Protection from Elements
Keep your vintage watch away from extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight. These elements can cause the oils inside the watch to dry out, leading to mechanical issues – but most importantly it can also cause your dial to patina. This can be a good and bad thing depending on the patina. Store the watch in a cool, dry place, preferably in a watch box or case.
Avoiding Water Exposure
Most vintage watches are not water-resistant. Avoid exposing them to water, as moisture can seep into the case and cause rust or damage to the movement. If your watch does come into contact with water, dry it immediately with a soft cloth and consult a watchmaker.

Strap Care
If your vintage watch has a leather strap, avoid exposing it to moisture and direct sunlight, which can cause the leather to deteriorate. We often recommend changing out the original strap for a newer one to wear and keeping the original strap in your safe. For metal bracelets, regular cleaning with a soft cloth can prevent tarnish.
Safe Storage
Store your vintage watch in a secure, cushioned case to prevent scratches and dust accumulation. Keeping the watch in a stable environment helps maintain its condition and longevity. Renting out a safety deposit box also ensures no one with be able to steal your beloved timepieces for you – it’s a bit inconvenient to go to the bank to take them out, but the peace of mind procured is second to none.
