Description

This watch boasts an unmistakably bold appearance while maintaining impeccable balance and readability. Notably, the dial provides effortless time-of-day readability as the primary focus. Additionally, the generously sized two-register chronograph totalizers – showcasing 30-minute intervals on the right and 12-hour intervals on the left – are exceptionally clear. The timing function, marked by the minute hand, is facilitated by the bi-directional rotating bezel with a black ceramic insert adorned with luminous Super-LumiNova. Moreover, the tachymeter scale runs seamlessly along the outer perimeter of the dial, eliminating unnecessary clutter such as a date aperture, reinforcing its status as a tool watch of extraordinary capability. Flyback chronographs originated in the 1930s to enhance the precision of timing navigation and munitions deployment for bombers. This ingenious complication swiftly resets the chronograph to zero, enabling uninterrupted timing for pilots with a single push of the plunger (and later found utility in automotive racing for timing laps). During World War II, flyback chronographs offered significant technical advantages in aerial combat and remain revered complications in modern horology. The in-house Calibre F388B movement from Blancpain features 35 jewels, 297 components, and operates at a high frequency of 5Hz for enhanced accuracy and the necessary torque for a flyback chronograph. Despite the rapid beat rate, which expedites the unwinding of the mainspring, the AIR COMMAND boasts an impressive 50-hour power reserve when fully wound. The view of the skeletonized rotor and inner workings through the caseback window is as exquisite as the dial itself. Limited edition of 500 Pieces.
